  • Natural vitamin E, 2 mg.

Omega 3:
  • For the human body it is important to maintain a healthy ratio of 1:1 of omega 3: omega 6 in its cell walls. In our modern diet this ratio has changed into approx. 1: 15-20 resulting in a higher probability of all kinds of disturbances of biological processes in our body.
  • Omega 3 and omega 6 are transformed in your body to substances called eicosanoids. These substances are the key to our health because they control the flow of information in our Biological Internet.
  • Why are eicosanoids so important?
    • They were the first hormones developed by living organisms more than 550 million years ago. As such they can be considered "super hormones" because they control the hormonal actions of other hormones. Furthermore, you don't have an eicosanoid gland since every one of your 60 trillion cells can make eicosanoids. Even though they are earliest hormones (dating from 550 million years ago), eicosanoids only were identified in the 20th century starting with the discovery of essential fatty acids in 1929. It was found that if fat in the diet was totally removed, rats would die. Adding certain essential fats (then called Vitamin F) was found to enable fat deprived rats to live. Eventually as technologies advanced, researchers realized that essential fats were composed of both Omega 6 and Omega 3 fatty acids that both needed to be obtained in the diet because the body could not synthesize them. The word eicosanoids is derived from the Greek word for 20, which is eicosa, since all of these hormones are synthesized from essential fatty acids that are 20 carbon atoms.
    • Omega 6 results in pro-inflammation -and omega 3 in anti-inflammation eicosanoids. In these processes free radicals are being formed which are harmful for the cells as they damage the cell walls. In a healthy person there are enough antioxidants, Glutathione and Vitamin E available to neutralize these radicals by absorbing an electron. As glutathione and vitamin E pass on this electron to other antioxidants like vitamin C, Coenzyme Q10 and Lipoic acid, they are recycled and ready again to neutralize free radicals.
    • Omega 3 inhibits inflammation-like processes that are part of neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's and Parkinson's), mood disorders (depression, anxiety), and many other diseases
  • Reasons of unbalanced omega 3 / 6 ratio:
    • Excess consumption of omega 6, like (diet) margarine and many plant oils.
    • Nutritional alpha-Linolenic acid and/or omega 3 deficiency.

Coenzyme Q10
  • Co- enzyme Q10 (ubiquinone), and magnesium are the basic ingredients for ATP production in the mitochondria. ATP is the main energy supplier of the body
  • Co-enzyme Q10 and magnesium assist in the regeneration of ATP consumed, particularly in cells that require a lot of energy, such as heart, muscle and liver cells, and nerve cells.
  • Co- enzyme Q10 is also involved in the regeneration of vitamin E. It has a sparing effect of vitamin E and is a strong antioxidant. In the lipoproteins coenzyme Q10 counteracts the oxidation of LDL cholesterol. Remarkable in this context is that people with high cholesterol levels use ACE inhibitors to correct this. These same ACE inhibitors decrease the content of coenzyme Q10 by partially blocking its biosynthetic pathway.
  • In principle, the body itself can produce Coenzyme Q10. This is a complicated process that takes a lot of energy, where a total of 19 conversion steps are required. It is dependent on the presence of sufficient availability of at least seven vitamins (vitamin B2, B3, B5, B6, folic acid, vitamin B12 and vitamin C) and various trace elements, including magnesium. Given our western living-and eating habits and the decreasing amount of vitamin and minerals in our diet, the production of Coenzyme Q10 in the body is easily disrupted which can lead to a deficiency.
  • Possible causes co enzyme Q10 deficiency:
    • Alcohol
    • Certain drugs ACE inhibitors (lovastatin, simvastatin, pravastatin)
    • Extreme physical / mental effort
    • Nicotine
    • Old age
    • Stress
    • Toxins (pesticides and heavy metals, among others)
    • Too little vitamin in food and minerals

Vitamin E
  • An important part of the functions of vitamin E is protecting fatty acids and fat-soluble substances from destruction by oxygen and other toxin, such as heavy metals and certain drugs. The fat-soluble substances which are protected by vitamin E include vitamin A, carotenoids, sex and adrenal hormones and because the fat fraction is found everywhere in the body (in all cell membranes, but also in the connective tissue) a deficiency of vitamin E has far-reaching consequences.
  • The most important effect of vitamin E at a glance:
    • Antioxidant effect: Vitamin E is the major lipid-soluble antioxidant. It is located in large numbers in the cell membranes, where it protects the vulnerable unsaturated fatty acids against the destructive effects of free radicals (especially in the brains). In particular, d-alpha-tocopherol to stabilize cell membranes, and thus slows down aging.
    • Cardiovascular system: Vitamin E is important for the condition of the cardiovascular system. It reduces formation of blood clots (thrombosis) and improves circulation. It prevents the oxidation of LDL-cholesterol, reinforces the capillary walls and inhibits the formation of atherosclerotic plaques. In addition, vitamin E plays a role in the formation and protection of red blood - cells against toxins in the blood.
    • Fertility: Vitamin E was discovered when rats that did not receive this substance became infertile. It is therefore not surprising that vitamin E plays an important role in fertility. It greatly enhances the motility of sperm inactive and also has a positive influence on the implantation of the egg in the uterine wall.
